Esperanto Viva! - a free introductory ten-lesson correspondonce course on the WorldWide Web. Introduces the student to the living language, using real-life dialogues and pictures. Exercises are corrected by a tutor and returned by e-mail.

There is an accompanying cassette, 'Esperanto Viva!' of the texts, with speakers from many parts of the World. E-mail correspondence course
A free ten-lesson grammar-based course, with lessons sent by email both ways. Meant as an introductory course, but fairly intensive, containing the complete formal grammar. Email: marko@iswest.net.

A set of 12 lessons, each on one piece of A4 paper. Grammar-based instruction. Available from the Esperanto Centre, your local Esperanto club, or possibly from your local library. You pay only the postage. Include a stamped addressed envelope if you request this.


     
EAB Elementary Esperanto correspondence course

Beginners' correspondence course in Esperanto. Gives the basis of the grammar and about 500 words of vocabulary. Based on the radio course 'Jen Nia Mondo'. Booklet plus cassette of the dialogues, together with a course handbook, Nixon two-way pocket dictionary, Key to Esperanto, pronunciation cassette and 'Esperanto for Beginners' booklet. (On completion the student will receive a voucher for a 50% reduction of their next membership subscription to EAB, if this is the student's first paid course.)

EAB Intermediate Esperanto Correspondence Course

A follow-up course to the EAB beginners' course, based on 'Jen Nia Mondo', giving the complete grammar of the language. Booklet plus cassette of the dialogues, together with a course handbook. EAB Advanced Esperanto Correspondence Course

For those who have completed the Intermediate course or the Intensive course. Consists of 'Pas^oj al Plena Posedo' (completely in Esperanto), Plena Vortaro de Esperanto (an Esperanto-Esperanto dictionary), and course handbook. EAB Intensive course for beginners

Intended for those with a good knowledge of language structure who wish to cover the basic elements of Esperanto grammar in the shortest time possible, and covers approximately the same ground as the Elementary and Intermediate courses. Consists of 'Teach Yourself Esperanto' and accompanying cassette, together with a course booklet. (On completion the student will receive a voucher for a 50% reduction of their next membership subscription to EAB, if this is the student's first paid course.)

Urso-kurso

A course for younger children, ideally learning with an adult. Contains colorful material. Produced by the Esperanto Teachers' Association.

Hypercourse

A hypertext course for the MacIntosh, which can be downloaded from the Internet. A grammar based course. This is free, but a contribution is expected if you use it. It is presently being set up on a the WorldWide Web.


     
Travel Talk
     

A CD-ROM aimed at giving practice in words and phrases used in travel. Contains over 500 expressions. Includes model voices saying the expressions, so you can imitate them. Requires a multimedia PC. On the same CD-ROM are programs for teaching Esperanto speakers English, Dutch speakers English, and English speakers Dutch. Probably most effective after an introductory course. Suitable for public libraries

Mazi en Gondolando


A course of twelve parts on two video tapes, entirely in Esperanto, aimed at younger children. Includes a 160 page booklet, giving the texts and exercises, and a cassette tape. Very professional - produced in cooperation with the BBC. Suitable for public libraries .


     
Pasporto al la tuta mondo
A beginners' course, aiming to teach practical language usage by introducing typical situations, and at the same time to inform about the Esperanto movement and culture. The course will eventually consist of 15 half-hour lessons (less a little bit for commercials), entirely in Esperanto. Introductory notes and exercises in English are being produced, (and eventually in other languages, too). Being produced by the Esperanto League for North America (ELNA), whose Education Officer wrote: "Yesterday I received lessons 1 thru 4 of PASPORTO AL LA TUTA MONDO, and have been laughing ever since. A group of about 10 Esperantists have enacted a continuous skit dreamed up by Prof. Grobe in Arizona and written by an outstanding British Esperantist Dr Paul Gubbins. The center of it is a family which has many adventures......you'll see. At least if you get a copy yourself."

A systematic and well-structured book, with interesting reading material for each lesson. This is the book most likely to be found on bookshop shelves in the high street. There is an accompanying cassette tape. Suitable for public libraries.
