Balkan youth work for a culture of peace
|
| Theme
|
| For almost a decade the Balkans
have been shaken by bloody wars and conflicts, that profoundly influenced
the people, environment and economy of the region. In addition, the
conflicts have a great impact on the European integration process, and
perhaps even determine its direction. Today there are many young people on
the Balkans without a clear perspective of the future, often unemployed or
traumatised by war and violence. The social and economical problems are
further burdened by recent environmental catastrophes in the region. In
order to confront this situation the youth must now break the walls of
inter-ethnic violence, national myths and prejudice.
|
| This aim coincides with the
long-term work of Esperantists for mutual comprehension over national and
ethnic borders. TEJO-seminars, having a tradition of several decades,
serve to abolish suspicions and superstitions between representatives of
different ethnic and cultural background, and to create a basis for
intercultural education and friendship.
|
| TEJO has already organised
seminars on current issues for a few decades. It now offers its experience
for a new approach on the Balkans. During this seminar you will receive
training not only on Balkan topics, but also on Esperanto and
international youth work. You will learn how to use Esperanto in an
international context for your own benefit and for others. Our goal is to
provide training for young people, who are willing to contribute to or
initiate youth projects in the region and abroad.
|
| Our seminar is aimed at
education and discussion. Through lectures, workshops, simulation games
and study visits we will deal with a vast range of topics on our issue -
Balkan youth work for a culture of peace. Come and experience, think and
act; come and contribute to a seminar with a truly international
atmosphere and a unique training programme!
