Classes at Stanford > The Payoff
The Payoff
Whatever your reasons for learning Esperanto, The International
Language, the payoff is when you actually make contact with people of
other cultures and you can easily communicate. Luckily, the San
Francisco Bay Area has a large number of opportunites to practice.
Including the internet and relatively cheap travel methods, the whole
world is waiting for you.
- Stanford classes, Stanford area e-mail list
- Northern California Yahoo Group list
- here you will get notices of weekly conversation groups in San
Francisco and Berkeley, a bi-weekly lunch conversation group on the
Peninsula, the annual All-California Esperanto Congress and all kinds of
other events from Sacramento, Davis and other hot-beds of
internationals.
- Esperanto USA - The Esperanto organization for the USA, with offices in Emeryville (near Berkeley).
- UEA - Universala Esperanto Asocio, The International Esperanto Association, based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
- TEJO - Tutmonda Esperanta Junulara Organizo, The World Esperanto Youth Organization
- Pasporta Servo
- International Hospitality Service using Esperanto (Yes, SERVAS, the
English language equivalent comes from the Esperanto idea.)
I could list hundreds (thousands?) of organizations from more than a
hundred countries, thousands of original and translated works from all
over the world... But you'll have to learn Esperanto for any of them to
be useful for you!
The world is waiting for you.
