Gaining Confidence in Esperanto

This course, for advanced beginner and intermediate learners, aims to help students gain confidence in using the language effectively and creatively. A variety of readings and the "Pasporto al la tuta mondo" videotape course will be used as a springboard for exploring many aspects of conversational and written Esperanto. Students will be given the opportunity to role-play common conversational situations, improve their reading and writing abilities, and become acquainted with contemporary Esperanto culture. Cost: $295

Audio-Visual Methods of Teaching and Learning Esperanto

This year's advanced course will take the form of an intensive workshop in audio-visual materials and methods of Esperanto instruction. Students will study current concepts in second language acquisition theory and how they relate to modern teaching methods, review a wide range of materials currently available for Esperanto and other languages, and work in small groups to further adapt and develop them. The course will be valuable for anyone interested in how Esperanto can be taught and learned, whether in the classroom, club settings or over the Internet. Active participation will be required. Cost: $295
