NASK Students
Students come to NASK seeking classes designed to enhance the speaking and understanding of Esperanto,
the experience of living in an Esperanto-speaking community for three weeks,
and an opportunity to meet Esperanto speakers from around the world.
Enrollment in NASK is open to all students at least 16 years of age who meet the
minimum requirements for Esperanto 5B (an advanced beginner course).
Students will be in class for three hours daily. During non-class
hours they will be involved in a number of group and independent activities, including:
completion of homework assignments and required reading; small group discussions;
conversation groups; library time; exploration of on-line resources in and about
Esperanto; development of projects and presentations; development of evening programs
with an intercultural focus; and various excursions in which the focus will be on the
practical use of Esperanto in real-world settings.
Students will also be encouraged to prepare written reports, articles, and
creative pieces (such as poems or short stories) for the daily newsletter
NASKa Fasko, other publications, and for possible radio broadcast.
Students who need extra assistance or
tutoring with the language itself will have the opportunity to meet individually with the
instructors.
Enrichment Opportunities
Various evening and weekend activities afford opportunities to informally explore many
aspects of Esperanto language and culture. These may include study groups, games,
group singing, cultural presentations, slide shows, poetry readings, public speaking,
intercultural discussions, picnics, and field trips.
If you would like to propose a
special-interest program, contact Ellen Eddy, the NASK Administrator.
