Designed for students who have already started the study of Esperanto and are at the "high beginner" level. Sessions emphasize basic conversational ability, knowledge of basic language structure and vocabulary, and the use of Esperanto in typical interpersonal encounters. The focus is on the ability to speak and to understand the spoken language. In addition, participants study the history and culture of the language.

Conducted mainly in Esperanto, with the use of explanations in other languages as needed.

Course materials will be provided by the instructor.

5 undergraduate credits, letter grade or pass/fail.
