Stand-presentations
By-stand-presentations
Presentations by stand may also
be an important device to present languages. Organizers must think
properly what would be better for their Festival: either
presentations executed by "teachers" or
by-stand-presentations.
That's an example of what type
of presentations they use at different LF-s:
Stand is en exposition of various demonstrative
materials concerning languages: text books, books, newspapers and
magazines, posters (so, everything that can present language). In
order to attract more visitors, representatives by stands may put on
national clothes, play out national music, decorate their stand with
special items common to their culture.
Advantages of that
system:
- it gives opportunities to
present a lot of interesting materials.
- participants are free to
choose what stand they like to visit at the moment
- representatives by the
stands may answer any questions
Disadvantages of that
system:
- participants are as a rule
too passive, they don't want to engage themselves in what is going
on. NB: People are more interested if they can take an active part
in the events.
- representatives by the
stand may talk only to few people at the same time. (that's an
upsetting thing, that). It may occur so that participants get
tired to wait for their turn to come and they leave the stand
without having talked to the representative.
- no profound presentation of
the language is possible by the stand. Participants just go by,
take some materials and go on.
