The so-called Joint Seminars of young Esperantists from Korea an Japan have been taking place regularly for sixteen years. Since 1994, when the seminar was part of the TEJO world congress, some Chinese Esperantists also joined the organising team.

The Joint Seminar is an ideal opportunity for young people in the three countries to get to know each other. At the same time it forms a basis for further relations between Esperanto youth associations in Asia.

The main themes of the seminar are often related to friendship and mutual understanding. This year the theme was "Esperanto in the 21st century", discussed by speakers representing the Esperanto youth organisations in Japan, Korea, China and Iran. Unfortunately the Chinese representatives were unable to take part in person this time.

There were 67 young people from five countries at this year's seminar at Kangnam University in Yongin, Korea. Planning is in progress for next year's seminar to take place in China.
