    According to Professor Sidney Culbert of the University of Washington in Seattle there are between one and two million people throughout the word who speak conversational Esperanto.

    This is the result of a wide-ranging survey carried out over twenty years. The findings are not yet formally published.

    There is a web page on the number of people who speak Esperanto. This is basically in Esperanto, but with excerpts in English.
